Texture Tuesday: Double Brim Fuzzy Beanie

The Double Brim Fuzzy Beanie knitting pattern

Welcome to Texture Tuesday! If you’re curious what Texture Tuesday is see my first post about the Swirl Pop Pillow pattern. Today I am featuring my newest pattern, the Double Brim Fuzzy Beanie. It’s a simple double brim beanie knitting pattern that works up pretty quick. It makes a great beginner beanie.

About the Double Brim Fuzzy beanie

It’s knit bottom up, in the round. If you’ve never made a double brim beanie, it’s really quite simple. The brim is folded over and knitted to together, to create an extra layer of warmth over your ears. Some double brims have an extra wide brim. I’ve made the double brim 2.5″ wide, enough to cover your ears. The brim is easily adjustable, it can be made as narrow or wide as you like. Same with the length of the beanie. The top is cinched closed so you don’t have to worry about those pesky decreases!

About the yarn

Last year when I saw the Caron Latte Cakes yarn I just had to touch it! And when I did, I couldn’t believe how soft it really was. And that fuzz! I quickly fell in love and snagged some but wasn’t sure what I would make with it. When I saw this fall that they had released solid colors, I quickly grabbed way more than I needed. I had a sweater design I was planning when a fuzzy beanie idea crossed my mind. So I went with it. And I’m happy I did! I love the feel and texture of this yarn. It feels like you’re wrapping your head with silky goodness when you slip your beanie on.

Caron Latte Cakes are only available at Michael’s stores. The cake has 530 yds. You can make a lot beanies with one cake. Can we say market prep?! I made the baby, toddler, and adult size and still have enough left from the cake to make at least 2 more beanies. Can’t get your hands on the Latte Cakes or prefer a different yarn? A great substitute is the Red Heart Hygge yarn. It’s also a fuzzy bulky, weight 5, yarn.

Enough about the beanie! Head on over to Ravelry or my Etsy shop to grab your copy.
