Bobble Nest Basket – Free Crochet Pattern

When I designed the Mug Nest Coaster pattern I loved it so much. I couldn’t help but make a matching Can Nest, then came the Plant Nest Coaster! And now the Bobble Nest Basket! The Bobble Nest Basket pattern is designed using two different weights of yarn. Just like the other nest patterns.
The Bobble Nest Basket is perfect for any room of the house. It’s perfect for your bathroom counter, your desk, to toss your keys in when you get home, your favorite candy… And it works up super fast. Before you know it, you’ll have more than you know what to do with! It also has a boho vibe, that I love.
The basket uses two different types of yarn, with two styles. You can easily customize the basket to your desired size.
I hope you love making the Bobble Nest Basket as much as I do!

Height: 3″
Width of opening with Bobble top: 4″
Width of opening with Crab stitch: 4.5″
Notes & Pattern:
- The Bobble Nest Basket pattern is worked in the round, starting with a magic ring. Then switches to rows when working the sides.
- The worsted weight option is worked double stranded for firmer sides and bottom.
- Ch 1 does not count as a st.
- To make your Bobble Nest Basket bigger keep repeating the increase pattern, increasing each rnd by 6 sts. Example: Rnd 9: *Inc, Sc 6 Rnd 10: *Inc, Sc 7 Rnd 11: *Inc, Sc 8 etc… until desired size. Then move onto Rnd 8.
Bobble stitch:
*Yarn over, insert hook into stitch and pull up a loop, yarn over and pull through 2 loops on your hook rep * 3 more times. Now you should have 5 loops on your hook. Yarn over and pull through all
5 loops on your hook.
Front Loop Only (Flo)
Normally, you insert your hook under both the loops that make up that top V shape. To work in the front loop only, insert your hook under only the specified loop instead. The front loop will the bottom of the v shape, closest to you.

Pattern w/Bulky 5 yarn:
Using 6.0 mm hook
Rnd 1: Make a magic ring, Sc 6, sl st to 1st sc, ch 1 (6 Sc)
Rnd 2: Inc in each st, sl st, ch 1 (12 Sc)
Rnd 3: *Inc, Sc rep from * around, sl st, ch 1 (18 Sc)
Rnd 4: *Inc, Sc 2 rep from * around, sl st, ch 1 (24 Sc)
Rnd 5: *Inc, Sc 3 rep from * around, sl st, ch 1 (30 Sc)
Rnd 6: *Inc, Sc 4 rep from * around, sl st, ch 1 (36 Sc)
Rnd 7: *Inc, Sc 5 rep from * around, sl st, ch 1 (42 Sc)
Rnd 8: Sc in the Flo in the same sp that you did your sl st, ch 1 in. Sc in the Flo of each st around, sl st, ch 1 (42 Sc)
Rnd 9: *Sc, bobble rep from * around, sl st, ch 1, turn (42 sts= 21 Sc, 21 bobbles)
Now you’ll start working the sides. They are worked in rows, not rnds. This helps keep the seam nice and even.
Rows 10-16: Sc 42, sl st, ch 1, turn
Row 17: Sc 42, sl st, ch 1, do not turn (turn- if your doing the Crab Stitch edging)
Note: Rnd 18 bobbles are smaller than the regular bobbles. Yo, draw through 2 loops, yo, draw through 2 loops, yo, draw through all 3 loops on hook.
Rnd 18: *Sc, bobble rep from * around (42 sts= 21 Sc, 21 bobbles)
Fasten off, weave in ends.
To finish with the Crab stitch on Row 18 instead of Bobbles work the rnds/rows as above then work Row 18 with the Crab stitch.
Pattern w/Worsted Weight:
Note: You’re working with yarn Double Stranded for the worsted weight.
Using 5.0 mm hook
Rnd 1: Make a magic ring, Sc 6, sl st to 1st sc, ch 1 (6 Sc)
Rnd 2: Inc in each st, sl st, ch 1 (12 Sc)
Rnd 3: *Inc, Sc rep from * around, sl st, ch 1 (18 Sc)

Rnd 5: *Inc, Sc 3 rep from * around, sl st, ch 1 (30 Sc)
Rnd 6: *Inc, Sc 4 rep from * around, sl st, ch 1 (36 Sc)
Rnd 7: *Inc, Sc 5 rep from * around, sl st, ch 1 (42 Sc)
Rnd 8: Sc in the Flo in the same sp that you did your sl st, ch 1 in. Sc in the Flo of each st around, sl st, ch 1 (42 Sc)
Note: When working the bobbles double stranded, you’ll make the bobble the same as you normally would but you’ll have 10 loops on your hook when you pull the last two strands through to complete your bobble.
Row 17: Sc 42, sl st, ch 1, do not turn (turn- if you’re doing the Crab Stitch edging)
