I don’t know about you. But when I’m working on large projects I like to take a break and make some quick projects. The Cobblestone Crochet Pattern Trio is perfect for those quick breaks! Some of my favorite small items to make are coasters and plant mats. When I came up with the Cobblestone Mug Mat pattern I couldn’t help but make a plant mat too. Just like I did with the Mug Nest Coaster and Plant Nest Coaster patterns.

But I couldn’t stop there! Why not add a placemat to the set! That’s how the Cobblestone Pattern Trio came to be! I hope you love making the Cobblestone Mug Mat, Cobblestone Plant Mat, and Cobblestone Placemat as much as I do. But watch out, they’re addicting to make! They’re perfect for markets and gifts!

Lion Brand Rewind (219 yds per skein):
Mug Mat: 32 yds
Plant Mat: 70 yds
Placemat: 200 yds
Total yds doesn’t include fringe.

Plant Mat Width: 7.5″
Length: 10″

Placemat Width: 12″
Length: 16″

Abbreviations:
Ch- chain
Dc- double crochet
Rep- repeat
Sc- single crochet
Sk- skip
St(s)- stitch(es)

Gauge:
5 Shells x 9.5 Shell rows

Shell Stitch:
(Sc, 2 Dc) in same St

Notes:

• You’ll skip the two Dc sts from previous row and work you next Shell in the Sc from the previous row.
• Ch 1 does not count as a st

Cobblestone Mug Mat:
Row 1: Foundation Sc 13, ch 1, turn
Row 2: Shell in first St, Sk 2 Sts, *Shell in next St, Sk 2 Sts Rep from * until last 3 Sts, Sk 2 Sts, Sc in last St, Ch 1, turn (13 sts)
Rows 3-14: Rep Row 2
Row 15: Sc 13
Fasten off, weave in ends. Add fringe if desired.

Cobblestone Plant Mat:
Row 1: Foundation Sc 25, ch 1, turn
Row 2: Shell in first St, Sk 2 Sts, *Shell in next St, Sk 2 Sts Rep from * until last 3 Sts, Sk 2 Sts, Sc in last St, Ch 1, turn (25 sts)
Rows 3-14: Rep Row 2
Row 15: Sc 25
Fasten off, weave in ends. Add fringe if desired.

Cobblestone Placemat:
Row 1: Foundation Sc 37, ch 1, turn
Row 2: Shell in first St, Sk 2 Sts, *Shell in next St, Sk 2 Sts Rep from * until last 3 Sts, Sk 2 Sts, Sc in last St, Ch 1, turn (37 sts)
Rows 3-14: Rep Row 2
Row 15: Sc 37
Fasten off, weave in ends. Add fringe if desired.

The Shell stitch is reversible, choose which side you’d like to be the right side before adding your fringe.
