Bamboo Lattice Washcloth Pattern

I’ve been wanting to design some not so basic knit washcloths for some time. Some that were almost too pretty to use but were perfect for anything from scrubbing dishes to soaping up baby! The Bamboo Lattice Washcloth pattern is perfect for all of the above.

Details:

Method: Knitting

Skill Level: Intermediate

Needles:
US 8/5mm 16” Circular Knitting Needles or
10” straight needles.

Other:
Scissors
Tape Measure
Tapestry Needle

Yarn:
Worsted (weight 4): 60 yds
Hobby Lobby- I Love This Cotton or any
comparable cotton yarn

Washcloth measures 8” x 8”. Block if
needed to straighten edges.

Gauge:
4” x 4” = 20 Sts in K, P x 32 rows
Any instructions between ( ) will be repeated
as many times as it states.

Abbreviations:
Co- cast on
K- knit
Kfb- knit front back
P- purl
Psso- pass slipped stitch over
Rep- repeat
Sl1p- slip one purlwise
St(s)- stitch(es)
Wyib- with yarn in back
Wyif- with yarn in front

Kfb: knit 1 into front and back of a stitch;
single knit increase. Video Tutorial Link

Psso: pass slipped stitch over the two stitches you just made. Video Tutorial Link

Sl1p: Insert your needle into the next stitch as if to purl, and just slide it from your left needle to your right needle. (you will do this with the yarn in back)

Bamboo Lattice Washcloth Pattern:

Co 42
Row 1: K1, P1
Row 2: P1, K1
Rows 3-6: Rep rows 1 & 2
Row 7: (K1, P1) 3 times, P30, (K1, P1) 3 times
Row 8: (P1, K1) 3 times, *Wyib Sl1p, Kfb next st, Psso the 2 Kfb stitches Rep from * until last 6 Sts (P1, K1) 3 times
Rep rows 7 & 8 until it measures 7” from Co row. Ending after row 7.
Border rows:
Row 1: P1, K1
Row 2: K1, P1
Rows 3-6: Rep rows 1 & 2
Bind off (loosely if desired), weave in ends.
